The Manali area has endless possibilities for things to do and see during your stay. We are also able to highly recommend local guides and companies conducting a wide variety of sports and activities for the more adventurous.
If you are interested in getting up close and personal with some of the cliffs and boulders that litter the Kullu valley, you must try rock climbing with experienced local instructor Vikas. It’s also a great way to explore some of the back lanes of Prini or Vashist where the rural farming culture and architecture is still very much alive.
Another great way to experience the valley is either from the air or by water! Wild Himalayan Challenges offers paragliding, white water rafting, motorcycle tours and many other adventure sports. Click here to visit their website for further information.
If you prefer to have you feet firmly on the ground then you are spoilt for choice with many fantastic guided treks around the Kullu valley and beyond with Prem at Zingaro Travel, extremely experienced in organizing trekking holidays, he worked with West Himalayan Holidays for many years.
There is also Manali town centre and Old Manali to explore and experience Indian culture, shop for traditional Kullu hand woven shawls or have one of the many tailors make you up an outfit in a fabric of your choice. There are also natural sulphur hot springs at Vashist, Kalath and Manikaran, where you can bathe, in March and April the waters are believed to be particularly healing when the apricot trees are in bloom.
Manali is well known as a hub for adventure sports and so do not discount winter as a great time to visit, skiing and snow boarding in some of the most untouched slopes in unspoilt landscapes is a wonderful alternative to the crowded ski scene in more developed resorts around the world.
There is much to do in the Kullu region and beyond, and we are happy to suggest activities to complement your retreat, recommend local businesses and assist with booking.
